FIELD: manufacture of electrodes of chemical current sources. SUBSTANCE: the invention offers carbon fluoride for electrodes of chemical current sources. Carbon fluoride contains CF and CF2 groups in ratio of (2-4.5): 1. In this case, groups CF2 inside planes (CF)n, where n=3000-50000 and correspond to formula CFx, where x=1.18-1.33. Method for production of carbon fluoride includes treatment of carbon black densified with pyrolytic carbon, fluorinating agent - fluorine, or chlorine trifluoride, and inert gas taken in ratio of 1:(1-3) at temperature of 200-400 C. Carbon fluoride contains 65.5-67.8% of fluorine and possesses high specific surface (650-500 sq.m/g) and low porosity. Chemical current source with use of electrode made of carbon fluoride CF1,33 has discharge current of 100 mcA/sq.cm with discharge voltage of 2.2-2.3 V.
