FIELD: mechanical engineering; piston-type internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: method consists in intake, preliminary compression of working medium, bypass of working medium to working variable volume followed by purging, final compression, heating due to combustion and expansion of working medium and exhaust of waste medium from working volume; beginning of exhaust is timed to moment of maximum magnitude of working volume and beginning of bypass and purging is started after turning of crankshaft through 50 to 160 deg after first moment. EFFECT: increased power and enhanced economical efficiency, as well as reduction of toxicity of exhaust. 6 dwg
