FIELD: manufacture of engines. SUBSTANCE: piston head is provided with blind passages with open inlet on side of head over which hot gases flow. Length of passages is equal to (0.23-0.37) Д, where Д is mean diameter of piston and their total area is equal to (0.7-4) percent of area of cross section of piston head. Inlets of passages are located in peripheral zone of head at distance from piston axis exceeding 0.3 Д. Passages may be made at angle relative to piston axis and their length may be different. Passages may be located not unifromly. Besides that, they may be made in lugs of bosses vor piston pin. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 5 cl, 2 dwg
