FIELD: laser devices. SUBSTANCE: ultra-fast optical control in mode of self-synchronization with delayed negative feedback is performed due to saturation of amplification by means of application of part of preliminary amplified and time-shifted light directly to cavity of active laser unit. Optimal characteristics are achieved when active unit is filled with substance which life in excited state is of same order of magnitude as time for light to run of through laser. When pumping of active population switches from continuous mode to pumping by pulse sequence that period equals to or is multiple to time for light to run of through laser, then duration of light pulse is decreased by order of magnitude. Greater contraction is achieved by decreased duration of amplified light pulses before they run through active population of laser. EFFECT: shorter duration of pulses. 4 cl, 7 dwg, 1 tbl
