FIELD: agriculture, in particular, storage of sugar beet in pits and piles. SUBSTANCE: method involves piling beet and simultaneously spraying it with aqueous solution of sodium chloride with concentration of 1-3 g/l, with solution being preliminarily treated in anode chamber of diaphragm electrolyzer till pH value reaches of 5-7 and oxidation- reduction potential reaches +500 - +800 mV relative to comparison electrode made from chlorosilver. The process of treatment is conducted in vertical cylindrical electrolyzer with axially aligned electrodes made from titanium, polished titanium, platinum-plated titanium or titanium plated with ruthenium and titanium oxides, or with iridic oxides, and diaphragm made from material based on aluminum and circonium oxides. Prior to spraying solution, beet is subjected to washing. Basic solution treated in cathode chamber till pH value reaches 1-12 and oxidation-reduction potential reaches -820 mV relative to comparison electrode made from chlorosilver may be used for wetting ventilation air during curative storage period.
