FIELD: nonchemical water treatment processes. SUBSTANCE: electrically activated anolyte and/or catholyte is prepared by treating mineralized aqueous solution in anodic and/or cathodic compartment of diaphragm electrochemical reactor. Process is carried out using noninterconnected vessels arranged in one another, of which at least internal vessel is made from chemically inert, nonporous and nonconducting material. Ratio of external and internal vessels ranges from 1:1 to 100:1. Starting waste water and/or aqueous solution is fed into external or internal vessel and treatment of aqueous medium is continued until redox potential measured against silver chloride reference electrode becomes by at least 50 mV superior to initial value of redox potential. External and/or internal vessel can be made such as to allow medium being treated and/or electrically activated anolyte and/or catholyte to circulate in one or two opposite directions. Invention can be used in a variety of areas including medicine. EFFECT: simplified procedure, reduced power consumption, and expanded functional possibilities. 4 cl, 6 tbl, 5 ex
