FIELD: sheet material cutting. SUBSTANCE: apparatus for cutting sheet material has the frame 3, being moved with use of rolling bearing assemblies and carrying the upper and the lower knives 4,6 respectively. The knife 6 may be vertically moved by the crank-connecting rod mechanism 10. The apparatus also has a unit for controlling a gap between the above mentioned knives, being in the form of the holder 14 with the lower knife 6, the holder 14 is mounted in the carriage 5 with possibility of horizontal motion with the aid of adjusting bolts and guiding strips, providing overlapping of a plane of cutting of the upper knife 4. The clamping lugs 8 and the guiding lug 7 are secured to the carriage. By an action of the sheet material, had been clamped, a combined motion of the frame with the knives and the sheet is provided with a rate of the moving sheet. Upon changing of a thickness of the sheet material an interknife gap is being regulated. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of automatic lines with use of such apparatus. 1 cl, 6 dwg
