FIELD: paint and varnish industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves the interaction of manganese (Mn) with 2-ethylhexanoic acid and acetic acid in the medium of organic solvent. Process is carried out in inert gas atmosphere at 120-175 C at mole ratio metal:2-ethylhexanoic acid:acetic acid = 1:(1.7-2.5): (0.5-2.0) for two stages. At the first stage reaction temperature is maintained at the range 120-140 C up to hydrogen evolution ceasation. The second stage of process is carried out at 150-175 C up to the complete removal of acetic acid and solvent. Prepared product is diluted with organic solvent and filtered. Properties: mass part of Mn in siccative is 8.34-10.62%, color by iodometric scale is 220-250 mgy2/g, conventional viscosity is 10-52 s. EFFECT: improved method of siccative production. 3 tbl
