FIELD: organic synthesis catalysts. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to improved method of preparing oil-soluble salts in the form of paste for use as catalysts in oxo synthesis, aldehyde condensation, hydrocarbon oxidation, polyether(ester) resin hardening accelerator, siccatives, etc. Method consists in heating corresponding metal salts with stoichiometric excess of organic acids at vigorous stirring followed by removal of reaction by-products and excess acid by vacuum distillation. In particular, Co or Mn carbonate or acetate are used, which are subjected to reaction with isobutyric acid or with higher isomeric C6-C28 acids taken in 1.5-2-fold stoichiometric excess. Reaction is carried out for 2-3 h at 74-80 C, after which excess organic acid is removed to its residual content in product no more than 20 wt %.
