FIELD: mineralogy. SUBSTANCE: for identification of minerals without destruction of samples there are used pulse fluxes or trains of pulse-periodic fluxes of electrons which parameters are chosen from conditions of excitation of cathode luminescence, reproducibility of its spectral composition and physical nondestruction of identified sample. Process is realized with the use of special devices - mineral identifiers based on pulse-periodic electron accelerators. In this case for identification of individual mineral its sample is anchored on immobile fixture in path of electron current diaphragmed by metal diaphragm which diaphragms simultaneously light flux of pulse cathode luminescence. For continuous identification of particular minerals in rocks the latter are set on mobile fixture (in the form of conveyer belt) and photographic recording is carried out after rocks are irradiated at their exit from zone of direct action of electron accelerator.
