METHOD OF QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS OF MINERAL MICROIMPUTITIES IN QUARTZ RAW MATERIAL AND AUTOMATIC ANALYSER FOR THIS METHOD Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

FIELD: ore-processing and glass-making industries. SUBSTANCE: method is based on excitation of pulse-periodic cathode luminescence in quartz raw material when it is irradiated with electron beam, on measurement of intensity of spectral bands: 560-580 nm for determination of content of apatite, 600-620 nm for determination of content of calcite, 690-730 and/or 370-490 nm for determination of content of feldspar and on comparison of measurement results with standards. Sensitivity of method increases with irradiation of moving grounded quartz raw material by train of pulses of electron beam following with rrecurrence rate providing for complete change of raw material within irradiation field during period between pulses. Additional change of area of irradiation field provided for absolute measurement of number of grains of specified mineral microimpurities in examined raw material without comparison with standard. Analyser for this method cinludes analytic chamber, photodetector with dispersion device, systems of processing, comparison and visualization of results of measurement. Analytic chamber is joined to pulse-periodic electron accelerator, is provided with device to feed and to remove quartz raw material from it which flow crosses electron beam inside chamber. Device integrating photodetector signal, device providing for search of minimal value of intensity of luminescense among pulses train and device summing intensities of all pulses of train are placed in addition into results processing system. Analyser is fitted with supplementary photodetection equipment positioned above flow of raw material which has passed irradiation field. Method and analyser do not break or foul examined raw material, do not require any special treatment of it or preparation of equipment such as its sealing and ensure proximate analysis.
