FIELD: spectral luminescent analysis of substances. SUBSTANCE: process can be used at custom houses and in criminology for timely and accurate monitoring of movement of precious stones and their substitution with other stones including artificial ones. Process is based on irradiation of precious stones subject to test with pulse short-time electron beams, recording of spectrum of pulse cathode luminescence emerging with it and comparison of obtained results with certificate data of stone. Irradiation and recording of spectrum are conduced at least twice: firstly for formation of spectral luminescent certificate of stone, second time and others are performed during direct test of authenticity of stone during its repeat appearance at check point. Recording of spectrum of luminescence is carries out within wave ranges not less than: 610-780 nm for rubies, spinels, alexandrites and emeralds; 450-780 nm sapphires; 350-680 nm for precious varieties of quartz, diamonds and fianites. Method is nondestructive, does not required preliminary machining of stone and its removal from mount.
