FIELD: nondestructive control of physical characteristics of materials. SUBSTANCE: method is not differentiating, it is used to measure absolute values of parameters of ultrasonic field which makes it possible to decrease by two-three orders requirements to equipment in the part of its measurement error. Method enables presence of stresses in objects with properties unknown or changed in process of use to be determined. This is achieved by injection of two pairs of ultrasonic oscillations of longitudinal and lateral waves into examined object at two different angles and by reception by two receiving converters of pulses passed through oscillation object. Value of stress is found by relationship of measured times of range of pulses. EFFECT: method employs no standards, makes it possible to increase authenticity and precision of measurement results thanks to exclusion of errors tied up with nonidentity of properties of materials of object and its analog, to inequality of thicknesses of measured object and its unloaded analog. 4 cl, 1 dwg
