FIELD: nondestructive test of physical characteristics of materials. SUBSTANCE: method consists in excitation of ultrasonic vibration of normal and shear volumetric or surface waves, in reception of vibrations passed through tested object, in measurement of their parameters that are used to estimate value of stress. At least six independent parameters of received vibrations are measured and measured parameters are employed to compute six independent mechanical characteristics of material as minimum and characteristics of its stress- deformed state. Propagation velocity, damping rate and vibration frequency are measured in all types of waves. It is also possible to measure time of growth of vibration amplitude to maximum or to excite ultrasonic vibrations on frequencies of natural longitudinal or/and shear resonance. In addition relative difference of frequencies of various types of received vibrations and ratio of wave lengths of received vibrations can be calculated. EFFECT: possibility of determination of all key characteristics of tested material without usage of samples and removal of load from tested object. 6 cl
