METHOD OF CHECKING OXYGEN-TRANSPORTATION FUNCTION AND DEVICE FOR REALIZATION Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

FIELD: medicine; meashurement technology. SUBSTANCE: container with tested blood sample is placed into air-tight thermostatting and moisture-statting chambers. Then chamber is filled with gas mixture with stable partial pressure of oxygen. Oxygenation and deoxygenation of tested sample is carried out by bringing gas mixture into contact with local part of blood surface which part has constant area. Blood surface is continuously renewed at the point of its contact with gas mixture. Optical signal is registered which characterizes degree of saturation of blood with oxygen during total period of time of oxygen exchange of blood with gas mixture. Moreover, surface of blood is renewed at the point of its contact with gas mixture during oxygenation or deoxygenation processes is carried out by means of bending blood in container directly. Temporal dependence of optical registered signal is transformed into optical signal relating log of current value of oxygen exchange time. After that, sequent values of optical signal of log dependence achieved are compared with corresponding values of optical signal of reference log dependence, which is achieved when testing reference blood sample. Oxygen-transportation function of blood is judged to be correspondent to reference one if these signals coincide. If there is incoincidence between these signals one may conclude that incoincidence is observed. Device for checking oxygen-transportation function of blood has air-tight and thermo- and moisture-statting chamber, connected to gas mixture supply system, and provided with oxygen partial pressure governor, which adjusts pressure in the gas mixture. Gas-exchanger is installed inside the chamber as well as optical oxymeter and registrar connected to oxymeter. Gas-exchanger is made in the form of vessel for locating blood sample inside it. Vessel communicates with cavity of chamber. There is an activator used for mixing blood inside the vessel; the activator is connected with drive. Registrar has timer, unit for taking logs, set-point device, comparison unit and data representation unit. Working inputs of comparison unit are connected with output of oxymeter and set-point device. Timer is connected with adjusting input of comparison unit through unit for taking logs.
