FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves filling the whole volume of reservoir manufactured from gasproof material with blood sample under study without any gas inclusions being left. The reservoir is sealed and placed into thermostatically controlled chamber. Oxygen saturation is continuously measured in the blood sample. Spontaneous deoxygenation speed is determined from changes in blood saturation with oxygen and internal erythrocyte oxygen consumption speed is calculated. The device has reservoir manufactured from gasproof material for placing blood sample under study located in thermostatically controlled chamber, and is provided with means for filling its whole volume with blood containing no gas inclusions and gastight sealing the reservoir after filling it with blood and a recording unit with sensor members. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy and simplicity of method. 13 cl, 4 dwg
