FIELD: method of treatment of waste containing harmful substances (concentrated) such as, for instance, factory dust, slimes, mill scale, used moulding sand. SUBSTANCE: preheated layer of loaded material is fluidized by introduction of (fluidized) gas at least in the zone of the upper layer into the fluidized layer; the fluidized layer, at least partially consisting of the material that is subject to treatment, is heated from the top. The heating rate can be controlled, due to which, on one side, it is possible to set the temperature of a solid matter, on the other side, it is possible to set the temperature of gas in the gas space above the fluidized layer. Thus, thermal requirements from the treatment process and aerodynamic requirements from material systems can be controlled irrespective of each other. The device for accomplishment of the method represents a housing with a gas-distributing lattice, under which the means for feeding the fluidizing agent is located, and above which- the means for heating the fluidized agent in the form of a high-speed or plasma torch installed for changing its position and angle of inclination relative to the housing wall. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 40 cl, 1 dwg
