FIELD: automotive industry; exhaust systems of internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: exhaust muffler has housing with inlet and outlet connections, outer case and noise-suppressing members fitted inside housing. Outer sound-proofing gaskets are installed between housing and case. Novelty in design of muffler is that it has inner sound-proofing gaskets placed between noise-suppressing members and inner surface of housing, that outer sound-proofing gaskets are made in the form of separate rectangular members installed over circumference of housing with interval, and the inner sound- proofing gaskets are made in the form of separate rectangular members installed with interval over perimeter of noise-suppressing members. In other design versions, outer sound-proofing gaskets can be installed opposite to inner gaskets or outer gaskets can be fitted to intervals between inner sound-proofing gaskets. Outer sound-proofing gaskets can be installed in staggered order over surface of housing. EFFECT: enhanced noise suppression. 6 cl, 5 dwg
