Abstract RU 2065509 C1

FIELD: production of nickel balls by electrolysis, applicable in nickel plating of metal products. SUBSTANCE: nickel of regular ball shape is produced by deposition from electrolyte to substrate of cathode base with variation of cathode current during deposition period. Use is made of cathode base coated with dielectric to which conducting substrates are attached of concave spherical segment in shape with length of arc running through lower point of (1.66-2.10) R, where R is radius of produced ball. Offered method allows production of balls of different diameters with use of one cathode base, since the substrates are fastened to the base for their removal and replacement with other ones. This makes it possible to increase service life of cathode base. In production of balls with diameters exceeding 3 cm, spiral hollows 1.0-1.2 mm deep with depth-to-width ratio of 0.3-0.5 are made on the inner surface of substrates from their lower point along the generating line to provide for reliable holding the balls on the cathode base during the process of deposition.
