FIELD: cable-laying. SUBSTANCE: underwater cable laying is accomplished by a cable ship in a submerged position; the ship is a submarine submerging to the operating depth; simultaneously with submerging an excess pressure is built up in the submarine operating room; this pressure increases in proportion to the submergence depth; the underwater cable is paid out through the outlet outboard the submarine and laid on the sea bottom with a slack adjustable by changing of the submarine submergence depth.
