FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy; applicable in electroextraction or electrorefining of nickel. SUBSTANCE: method for production of nickel includes nickel deposition from sulfate or sulfate-chloride electrolyte with supply to electrolyte of perfluorinated surfactant chrome and alkyl sulfonate and/or alkyl sulfate of alkali metal. After electrolysis, anolyte is cleaned and fully saturated, and returned to the cycle. Perfluorinated surfactant and alkyl sulfonate and/or alkyl sulfate of alkali metal are supplied to electrolyte, correspondingly, in the amount of 15-30 mg/1 and not less than 5 mg/1. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 cl, 1 tbl
