FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: engine has housing 1, operating cylinder 2 with sleeve 4 and head 4 mounted on housing, piston 5 placed in cylinder sleeve 3 to form variable displacement chamber 4, crankshaft 7 with crankpin 8 arranged in parallel with crankshaft axis on which connecting rod 9 is mounted. Motion converting mechanism is made in form of bell crank 10 arranged in plane of cylinder 2 and shaft 7. One of tops of bell crank 10 is freely fitted on axle 11 in housing 1, first arm 12 of bell is coupled with piston 5 through hinged tie-rod 13 and other arm 14, with connecting rod 9. Installed in housing 1 is synchronizing lever 15 whose arms 18 and 19 are arranged in parallel rocking planes square to rocking plane of triangular bell crank 10. Arm 18 of lever 15 is connected with arm 14 of bell crank 10 by means of hinged tie-rod 16 with spherical joints 17, and arm 19 of lever 15 is connected with connecting rod 9. Reciprocating movement of piston 9 is converted into rotation of crankshaft 7 by means of levers 10, 15 and connecting rod 9. Crankshaft can be installed coaxially with cylinder 2.
