FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion axial engines. SUBSTANCE: engine has housing 1, cylinder 2 with fitted-in movable sleeve 3 connected with head 4, piston 5 placed in sleeve 3 to form variable displacement working chamber 6, crankshaft 7 arranged either in parallel with or coaxially with axis of cylinder 2, and triangular levers 11 and 17 whose tops are freely fitted on housing 1 on axles 12 and 16, respectively. Levers are arranged symmetrically relative to plane passing through longitudinal axis of engine and square to plane of rocking of both levers 11 and 17. First arm 13 of lever 11 is coupled with piston, second arm 15 of this lever is connected with connecting rod unit 10 or crank bushing 9; first arm 18 of lever 17 is coupled with bushing 3 and its second arm 19, with crank bushing 9 either through hinged tie-rod 23 coupled with second arm 15 of lever 11, or by means of other connecting rod unit. Reciprocating movement of piston 5 and head 4 with sleeve 3 in opposite directions is converted into crankshaft rotation by means of levers 11 and 17. Arrangement of crankshaft 7 close to axis of cylinder 2 makes it possible to reduce cross dimensions of engine. EFFECT: reduced cross dimensions of engine. 6 cl, 4 dwg
