FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention is meant to be used when preparing titanium- magnetite concentrates to blast furnace smelting. Method includes charging bed of blend (iron-ore material, flux, and fuel) onto sintering machine, ignition, caking, cooling, sorting cake, controlling total iron to ferrous monoxide (Fe/FeO) weight ratio in final agglomerate, and adjusting this ratio during the caking process by way of changing fuel consumption depending on bed height. As iron- ore material, titanium-magnetite concentrate and, as flux, lime are used. In this case, additional adjustment of Fe/FeO is fulfilled taking into account change in basicity in subsequent relationship $$$ =(4.0-4.8)+(0.06-0.12)(B-1.6) where left-hand member is value of Fe/FeO ratio when bed height is 300 mm, 4.0-4.8 is value of Fe/FeO ratio when basicity is 1.6, and B is basicity of agglomerate required by production condition. Basicity of blend is varied within 1.6-2.2 range and bed height on sintering machine within 300-500 mm range. When blend bed is changed by 1 mm above 300 mm, Fe/FeO ratio in final agglomerate is increased by 0.007-0.015. EFFECT: reduced fuel consumption: by 3 kg per 1 t of agglomerate in sintering process and by 15 kg per 1 t of pig iron in blast furnaces; increased reducibility of agglomerate with no loss in its strength characteristics. 3 cl, 1 tbl
