FIELD: scintillators. SUBSTANCE: transparent silicon aerogel is used as the base of a solid scintillator. Silicon aerogel consists of grains of $$$, about 4 nm in diameter, and air pores, whose average diameter is about 60 nm. Scintillation additive is used. Due to its low density, the aerogel scintillator can be used for examination of low-energy particles. EFFECT: improved design. 2 cl, 4 dwg
