FIELD: industry of nitrogen compounds; production of nitric acid. SUBSTANCE: conversion of ammonia is increased with minimum level of losses of platinoids owing to manufacturing catalytic element in the form of a packet of wire platinoid nets partially or completely separated, in alternating way, with gas-impenetrable, heat resistant, and chemically inert interlayers tightly adjoining nets. These interlayers are made in the form of fabrics or nets whose mesh size is greater than diameter of wire of platinoid net by a factor of 5- 500. EFFECT: increased catalytic activity. 2 cl, 1 tbl, 1 dwg
