FIELD: water transport. SUBSTANCE: method includes supplying heated water by gravity through inlet pipe from water reservoir bottom. Distributing pipes are used to distribute water flow over particular points on lock bottom and in front of its gate. Cold water is removed from the lock through outlet holes in lower gate or lock walls being below water upper level. Device for keeping ship lock free from ice has inlet distributing pipes and doors of water removing holes made in lock lower gate or walls. Besides, this device may be provided with individual perforated pipeline for supplying compressed air for the purpose of improving the process of directing heated water upwards.
