SIDE LINING OF ALUMINIUM ELECTROLYZER Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy; electrolytic production of aluminium. SUBSTANCE: made on carbon base of side refractory blocks is a band of nonconducting ceramic material produced on aluminium nitride base. Height of band is equal to 0.3 to 0.7 of well depth. Band can be made of individual plates which are connected by ends faces with the help of inversely symmetrical protrusions and recesses and applying glue with additions of high-melt metal-like compounds. Plates of nonconducting ceramic materials are of T shape and perpendicular span piece of it is located horizontally in carbon part of lining. Working side of lining is located as to vertical axis at angle of 3^o to 45^o towards external side. EFFECT: high aluminium production efficiency, long service life of electrolyzer. 4 cl, 3 dwg
