METHOD FOR DETERMINING COMPATIBILITY OF BINDER AND FILLER IN CARBON/CARBON COMPOSITE Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: power engineering; industries producing carbon base composites. SUBSTANCE: method involves manufacture of two test blanks one of which is made of blend with fixed content of filler between 5 and 40 mass percent and other one, of one binder by their molding, annealing, and heat treatment to temperature not lower than 1800 C, crushing of blanks obtained, mixing up of crushed particles with softened thermoplastic binder, orientation of particles by magnetic field, formation of specimen by curing the binder, measurement of its diamagnetic susceptibility, and determination of textural parameters. Compatibility of binder and filler is determined by ratio of textural parameters measured in these blanks. EFFECT: provision for quantitative estimation of the degree of compatibility of filler and carbon binder in composites. 2 tbl
