FIELD: radio detection and ranging, can be used for detection of objects containing a definite chemical element. SUBSTANCE: the method of object detection consists in radiation of r.f. pulses to the zone of observation of r. f. pulse bursts at the carrier frequency multiple of the electron irradiation frequency for supposed realization of forbidden transition, or of the frequency corresponding to electron energy in a non-excited state at one of the fully filled energy levels of atoms of the preset chemical element that is carried by the object to be detected, reception of radiated r.f. pulses in space points that are remote from the point of radiation, and measurement of one of the energy characteristics of received r.f. pulses. The decision on presence of the object in the zone of observation is taken according to the results of comparison of the obtained distribution of the magnitudes of energy characteristic of r.f. pulses measured in the points of reception with its distribution corresponding to the absence of the object that carries the preset chemical element. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency.
