FIELD: radiolocation, detection of objects whose composition includes certain chemical element. SUBSTANCE: method of detection of object includes irradiation of observation zone with pulse electromagnetic signal with characteristics that ensure manifestation of effect of parametric absorption of energy of electromagnetic waves by material object, reception of signal reflected from scatterer of emitted signal that has passed through object over ray " radiator-scatterer " or over ray "scatterer-receiver ". Signal is received in one point of space, irradiation point included. One of energy characteristics of signal is measured and compared with characteristic measured in reliable absence of object within observation zone. Decision on presence of object in observation zone is made on basis of comparison results with account of computation values for passage of signal through object over ray "radiator-scatterer "or over ray "scatterer-receiver". Natural (for instance, tropospheric layer of atmosphere) or artificial (for instance, radioholographic antenna) scatterer is used in the capacity of scatterer.
