FIELD: geophysics, location, laying-out and identification of concealed lengthy objects like underground fiber-optic cables-light conduits. SUBSTANCE: permanent magnets are obtained by magnetization of magnetic material, the magnets are placed along an elongated display unit, with magnetic field orientation in the direction of width of the display unit which is installed along the lengthy object; then the magnetic field detector is displaced along the object, whose location is determined according to the detected signals of the detector. The display unit is made in the form of a band accommodating the permanent magnets oriented in the direction of its width. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy. 12 cl, 25 dwg
