FIELD: radiolocation meteorology. SUBSTANCE: observed section of atmosphere is irradiated with first radiolocation pulses of linear polarization, reflected signals of same polarization are received, ratio of power of received signal to power of inherent noises of receiver is measured with subsequent calculation of radiolocation reflectance Zl of observed section of atmosphere, observed section of atmosphere is irradiated with second radiolocation pulses of circular polarization, reflected signals of same polarization are received, ratio of power of received signal to power of inherent noises of receiver is measured with subsequent calculation of radiolocation reflectance Zc of observed section of atmosphere. First and second radiolocation pulses of linear and circular polarization are emitted in sequence, received reflected signals corresponding to first and second radiolocation pulses are separated with formation of two sequences of reflected signals. Values Zl and Zc are determined by average values of received reflected signals and ratio and absence or presence of hydrometers and radioactive additives is ascertained by values of K, Zl and Zc.
