FIELD: airport facilities.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to signal processing methods in meteorological radar complexes (MRC) and can be used to detect icing zones in the take-off and landing sectors of aircraft. The method consists in the fact that with the help of a meteorological radar station of the near airfield zone (MRC NAZ), which is part of the MRC and installed directly at the airfield, in the take-off and landing sector of the aircraft, the atmosphere is scanned in the azimuth and angular planes, the power of the reflected signal is estimated. Then, for each pulse volume, the reflectivity Z* of the atmosphere is calculated, the reflectivity threshold Zthr is set, corresponding to the meteorological product - weak rain. When the threshold is exceeded, the minimum and maximum ranges with high reflectivity are fixed with the corresponding heights H1 and H2. Then, with the help of a thermal profiler, which is part of the MRC, the value of the height of the zero isotherm HT=0 is measured. After that, when the conditions Z≥Zthr, Нcur≥НT=0, H1≤Нcur≤Н2 are simultaneously fulfilled (where Ncur is the current value of the aircraft flight altitude in the take-off and landing sector), a decision on the presence of an icing zone is taken, otherwise it is not.
EFFECT: increase in the efficiency of detecting icing zones in the take-off and landing sectors of the aircraft.
