FIELD: electric engineering, in particular, devices for protection of electric supply lines and appliances against overload. SUBSTANCE: device has ground neutral wire, resistor which has high non-linearity and is located between current conducting flanges inside pressurized insulation cover which shape determines effective length of leakage, shape factor, number, shape and projection of ribs, so that external insulation is safe against mud and moisture. Said resistor is designed as at one or several columns which are connected in parallel and are designed as serial circuit of single elements with high non-linearity. Specific lateral capacitance Cl between resistor column and wet mud layer, equivalent heat transfer factor αe which is reduced to surface of resistor column of real clipper, and equivalent heat transfer factor αea which is reduced to surface of single-column axial-symmetry device which surface provides same heat transfer as resistor of real clipper, conform to equation given in invention specification. EFFECT: increased reliability, decreased weight and cost, possibility to function in both light and extreme conditions with respect to temperature and mud level. 5 dwg
