FIELD: converter substations for power transmission lines and DC butt-to-butt links, electrified railways, electric metal-working and chemical industries. SUBSTANCE: multiphase converter has two similar twelve-phase converters 1 and 2 with controlled (turn-off or turn-on) valves; banks of shunt capacitors are connected to valve windings of transformer; valves of converters 1 and 2 are turned on at control angles of α1 = α - 7,5o and α2 = α + 7,5, respectively. Due to these features, line current of multiphase converter has low content of higher harmonics at which its sine-wave distortion factor is lower than 1%. EFFECT: provision for dispensing with filters on three- phase voltage side. 1 dwg
