MULTIPLE STAGE AUTOMATED PARKING Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: transport; automated parking. SUBSTANCE: multiple stage parking has cylindrical shaft, screw guide secured over shaft perimeter, bays for entrance and exit cars, radially oriented car storage bays arranged over perimeter of shaft, lift in form of self-propelled lifting platform with wheels engaging with screw guide and at least two drive mechanisms, device to provide horizontal movement of car on pallet, including pallet, truck with wheels, truck driving device guides for truck secured in bays and on self-propelled lifting platform. Novelty in design of parking is that truck is furnished with truck-to-pallet coupler and support rollers are installed in bays and on self-propelled platform to take up weight of pallet with car placed on pallet. In other design version support rollers are secured on lower surface of pallet and guides are installed on self-propelled lifting platform and in car bays engaging with support rollers; pallet fixing members are installed in car bays; truck driving has gear wheel installed on truck coaxially with rear pair of wheels, motor installed on truck and coupled with gear wheel, toothed rack engaging with gear wheel and secured on self-propelled lifting platform, electric cable winding mechanism installed either on self-propelled lifting platform or on truck. Guides for oriented travel of truck engage with truck wheels to cut down duration of car handling cycle and improved operation reliability of device providing horizontal movement of car on pallet.
