FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention refers to manufacture of bimetal sheets and strips with cladding layer of wear-resistant tool or structural steel and main layer of carbon or low-alloyed steel. Proposed process is related to manufacture of bimetal two- and three-layer sheets and strips and includes manufacture of bimetal biller and its subsequent expanding. Bimetal billet is produced by surfacing on billet of main layer of carbon or low-alloyed steel of cladding layer from tool or structural steel containing, percent by mass: carbon 0.50-2.20; manganese 0.10-2.00; silicon 0.10-2.00; chrome 0.01-18.00; wolfram up to 2.00; molybdenum up to 2.00; molybdenum up to 2.00; vanadium up to 2.50; iron being the balance. Relation of thickness of cladding layer to depth of penetration of billet of main layer is maintained within limits 2-200, depth of penetration - within limits 1.0-20.0 mm. Rolling of two-layer billet is conducted in temperature interval 1200-800 C, rolled stock is cooled slowly with keeping for 1.0-10.0 h within temperature interval 800-500 C.
