DRINKING WATER PURIFICATION METHOD Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: water treatment. SUBSTANCE: water to be purified is first passed through sorption filter having anion exchange resin bed. Resin is in bicarbonate form modified with copper ions linked by coordination bonds with amino groups of anion exchange resin. Water is further passed through filter having bed of silver-modified active coal. Volume ratio of sorbents is comprised within range 10 : 1 - 20 : 1, contact time between water to be purified and sorbents being between 0.5 and 1 hour. Method can be used for water purification under domestic conditions in environmentally jeopardized areas. EFFECT: method makes possible to remove toxic substances which cannot be removed by traditional water treatment methods, namely: hydrogen sulfide, nitrates, aromatic and chlorine-containing compounds, as well as microorganisms sensitive to silver ions. 1 tbl
