FUEL PURIFIER Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: purification of diesel fuels on board ship. SUBSTANCE: fuel purifier operates on principle of inertial forces, gravitational forces and molecular attraction forces for separation of heavy particles of mechanical impurities and water from fuel. Fuel purifier consists of fixed expansion chamber with deflector which is used to prevent primary entrainment of water and mechanical impurities and baffle plate which is used to prevent secondary entrainment of water and flow of fuel. Deflector and baffle plate are made in form of taper disks whose vertices are oriented to flow and are located in vertical cylindrical housing of fuel purifier whose cover is provided with fuel supply and discharge branch pipes. At the bottom, the housing of fuel purifier is closed with settler provided with branch pipe for discharging the separated admixtures. Fuel purifier is provided with regulator for selecting and setting the optimal operating conditions of purification through change of distance between disks of deflector. EFFECT: complete removal of water and mechanical impurities in amount of 60 to 70 percent; small sizes, high reliability, simple in construction, low cost, increased service life. 3 cl, 1 dwg
