FIELD: production of merchant bars. SUBSTANCE: open rolling mill has drop cover with pivot shaft positioned separately of working mill frame. Drop cover has guiding trough for conveyance of rolled products. During rolling process drop cover is connected with working mill frame so as to cover working rolls. In the process of changing and withdrawal of working mill from rolling line, drop cover is positioned for conveyance of metal along rolling line.
