FIELD: manufacture of building materials. SUBSTANCE: invention relates, in particular, to infrared heat treatment of glass objects. Method is characterized by advantageous possibilities in rate of cooling process enabling essentially reducing power consumption and operation area occupied by apparatus of invention, and also reducing specific metal usage for mentioned apparatus. All this is achieved through feeding gas stream on an object being cooled at a temperature by 340-510 C lower than object temperature and with simultaneous irradiation of object for 6- 12 min with selective infrared emission from emitter heated to 2300- 32000 K and having inherent maximum spectral density 30-35 W/av. mcm and incident IR flux density 1.5-2 W/sq.cm. 86-90% of the flux is provided with absorption in the region of volume absorption with $$$ 0.8-2.8 mcm and 10-14% in the region of surface absorption with $$$ 2.8-4.8 mcm. EFFECT: cheapened and facilitated process. 1 tbl, 5 dwg
