FIELD: mining; applicable for provision of safe and efficient mining operations under the complicated hydrogeological conditions. SUBSTANCE: method of formation of ice-rock barrier consists in that the process of formation of ice-rock barrier is controlled by stages. In this case, at all stages, the designed volume of coolant is pumped through the group of holes in the active freezing mode to form separate ice-rock bodies of optimal sizes. Transition from stage to stage is effected by changing over a group of holes of the previous stage to the passive freezing mode. Directed joining of separate ice-rock bodies into the combined ice-rock barrier is accomplished at the final stage of its formation for the preset terms. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 5 cl, 2 dwg
