FIELD: veterinary, methods and equipment for reproduction of animals by artificial insemination. SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises steps of retrieving granule enclosing frozen biological entity from coolant, transferring granule to vessel, placing vessel containing granule into heat carrier, followed by defrosting. Inventive novelty of proposed method resides in that, as granule is taken out of coolant, it is placed into dry test tube made of polymeric material, tube walls are gripped by forceps above granule, and tube is placed into heat carrier in which granule is kept until its defrosting. Granule defrosting apparatus is made in form of test tube made of polyethylene film 10-40 micron thick and having height exceeding granule diameter by factor 2-5. Test tube opening is shaped by thickened rim running all along edge.
