FIELD: medicine, infectious diseases. SUBSTANCE: method is based on biochemical blood examination and involves determination of enzyme activity at the first week of disease. Favorable and mean severity of disease course is diagnosed at increase of activity of aspartate aminotransferase (to 100 IU/l) and hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase (to 200 IU/l) being independently of creatine phosphokinase activity level. Unfavorable disease end is diagnosed if activity of aspartate aminotransferase is increased above 200 IU/l. It is noted that the level of activity of this enzyme is a marker of myocardiocyte death at effect of diphtheria toxin. EFFECT: simplified method, early diagnosis.
