FIELD: petroleum processing. SUBSTANCE: catalytic cracking process is conducted by way of transferring raw material and catalyst through intermediate section of the 1st part of stand pipe. Under discharge opening of stand pipe the 1st mixture of worked out catalyst and gas products is formed, which has the 1st density of catalyst. A part of this mixture is transferred from the 1st part of stand pipe into suspension of catalyst particles contained in the 2nd part of stand pipe enclosing separation zone, the most part of which protrudes over discharge opening of stand pipe to form over the latter the 2nd mixture of catalyst particles and gas products having the 2nd density of catalyst exceeding the 1st one. The 2nd mixture is transferred through discharge opening of stand pipe into separator and separated particles of catalyst are entered into steam-stripping zone. Stream of desorbing gas and steam formed in this zone is conveyed into separation zone, from where exhausted catalyst is transported into regeneration unit. Apparatus of invention contains: reaction vessel; reaction stand pipe including upper section and discharge opening disposed in upper section and confined with side wall of stand pipe; separator; steam-stripping zone disposed below separation zone; and also separation chamber confined with upper section of stand pipe and protruding by at least one diameter of stand pipe over discharge opening, and discharge opening for desorbing steam confined with stand pipe in separation chamber.
