FIELD: food industry. SUBSTANCE: device comprises caking chamber formed by upper and lower dies disposed coaxially with stop embracing them securely. Fixed on stop is tray with opening and prismatic guides for moving along them slide with metering insert. Dies and stop are provided with heaters. Method involves dropping cereal into caking chamber from height 5-10-times exceeds thickness of cereal with acceleration of 0.01-0.05 g, heating and squeezing cereal by dies, puffing and caking cereal at quick separating dies and unloading ready product.
