FIELD: rolling equipment, namely transmissions of drive unit of working rolls of rolling mills. SUBSTANCE: toothed spindle of drive unit of rolling roll with changeable length of shaft includes sleeve with outer toothed rim mounted on driven stem of roll and engaging with inner toothed rim of clutch body and also means for axially moving shaft. Novelty is at least one rocker mounted in radial turning of said toothed sleeve with possibility of rotation around axis. One arm of said rocker engages with groove of roll stem, its other arm engages with key mounted in radial opening of clutch with possibility of motion. Said clutch has radial groove on its outer surface connected with said radial opening. Spindle is provided with grippers engaging with clutch grooves. Said rocker has center of gravity shifted to side of its arm engaging with key. Grippers for engaging with grooves of clutch are combined with device for balancing spindle.
