FIELD: inorganic chemistry, technology of zirconium. SUBSTANCE: initially batteleyite concentrate is mechanically activated, thus powder having specific surface 3.5-4 m2/g is prepared. The process is followed by leaching with the help of 10-15 % hydrogen chloride acid at 60-90 C within 15-30 min. Ratio of solid and liquid phases is 1:3-1:5.
