FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: engine has collision plane 13 made in space 7 which is formed in piston crown. Fuel is injected in form of continuous liquid flow from fuel nozzle 15 onto collision plane 13. Moment of commencement of fuel injection by nozzle 15 is set near top dead center and initial phase of fuel combustion takes place in space 7. Fuel coming in contact with collision plane 13 is forced into plain zone 23 under action of return flow created by downward movement of piston 2 from top dead center and considerable part of combustion phase following the initial combustion phase takes place in plain zone 23 after top dead center.
